Mission & Vision

The Humboldt Park Community as a Campus (CAAC) Education Initiative, founded in 2011, strengthens schools by uniting the community around student success. Centered on Roberto Clemente Community Academy and its feeder schools creating a pathway from Pre-K to college and careers, offering wraparound support for students and families every step of the way.

In 2014, CAAC became the East Humboldt Park Community Action Council under CPS’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) department, convening bi-weekly with community partners to coordinate support for local schools.

E ducate

The Community as a Campus initiative fosters a culturally relevant, community-centered approach to education. We partner with local schools, families, and institutions to provide academic enrichment that reflects the lived experiences and histories of Puerto Rican and other marginalized communities. From early childhood through postsecondary pathways, our programs ensure students are not only learning, they are thriving in spaces that honor their identity and heritage.

E levate

We uplift students, families, and educators by creating learning ecosystems that respond to community needs and talents. Through mentorship, cultural arts, literacy, and wellness programs, we elevate both academic achievement and personal growth. Our goal is to dismantle barriers, celebrate cultural pride, and promote educational equity in Humboldt Park and beyond.

E mpower

At the heart of our work is empowerment. Community as a Campus equips young people with the tools, confidence, and leadership skills they need to drive change in their communities. By grounding education in culture and community, we cultivate future leaders who are prepared to advocate for justice, advance opportunity, and carry forward the legacy of resistance and resilience.
